Default handlebar change

Hi. I have a '93 FXRP with maybe 14inch apes. This weekend I want to change it to a knuckle style bar. I've swapted bars before on a Road King but was able to use all existing hoses and cables - I wont be able for this switch. My question is exactly what's involved (ie-how hard is it) to switch these lines out, specifically the thottle and clutch cables? I understand about putting the bars on to determine length needed but is it a daunting task to get into the clutch arm and and carb (CV type) and adjust / attach properly? I have the service manual but usually I don't use it and can just figure it out. Any advice or cautions would be appreciated. Thanks

just did a search. The only tips I found was to take your time. I am nervous about the clutch acble, though. I suppose I'll figure it out

Here's a stupid thought. There's no reason (except it may look terrible) that I can't run my existing cables until I decide to change them, right? Most threads talk about going bigger with the bars and extending cables, but if I'm going smaller, the length shouldn't affect the slack / give of anything (assuming it doesn't wrap or bind on the headlight or my knee, etc) right?

As for the wiring you can take excess and ti-strap it up and stash it between the tanks. The most pia to change was the front brake line. Bleeding and such. If you do not have a factory service manual i'd suggest it because the cable r&r is outlined well. Patience is the key. I swapped over to apes and ran the wiring inside the bars cutting the wiring was intimidating but I just labled all wires good and double checked before any cutting.
