BTW @Huckster 20 psi is fine at idle cold.. If 20 psi with hot oil, you got one heck of an oil pump or you are using 80 weight oil..

The oil pump bypass is set to 20 psi. The light comes on at 5 psi.

The bypass can't dump enough off to compensate for cold temps and thick oil causes higher pressures.

Assuming correct (or reasonable) oil and warmer temps, a good pump will idle 12-15 and run 20psi.

The number 1 place of wear that causes low pressure is the tappet guides, especially the front.
