Unhappy tranny dipstick access

I put new V&H Bigshots on my Superglide recently and I discovered that I can't get at my tranny dipstick with a allen wrench. There isn't enough clearance between it and the top pipe. I had Sampson cannons on it before this with no issues. The installation of the pipes was pretty straight forward, but did I overlook something? The bike is a '98.

I had the same issue with an old set of pipes that I ran...
There was no way to get an allen behind the rear cyl. pipe.
Had to remove the rear pipe at every fluid change...
Kind of a pain in the a$$, but the pipes sounded great...
They've since been replaced (a couple of times)

I converted it to a wide glide, 41mm front end.

I used the Ultima Ball Milled billet triple trees, 0* rake, stock length 41mm tubes, chrome lower legs, Ultima 8" rise "Y-Bars", internally wired, a Headwinds headlight, and a fork brace.

I didn't want to change the rake/trail, as that would change the handling of the bike, so I stayed with stock length tubes and 0* rake trees.

The bike handles just as it did before, however with the wide front end, it feels a bit more "sure footed", if you know what I mean.

I want to do the same to my bike, how much $$ would it cost to do this? Did you keep the 16" front wheel,or go with a 21"?

It depends on how much you want to spend.
Bought my components thru Jireh Cycles...

http://www.jirehcycles.com/

They offer complete conversion kits, or individual components.

I just bought the trees, bars, etc. thru them, and got the fork tubes from my local wrench. Bought new chrome lower legs. Installed it all myself, saving a ton of labor $'s. Took a few hours, but not very difficult at all.

The stock front rim was a 19"......
I replaced the stock 40 spoke 19" rim with an 80 spoke 19" rim.
While I was at it, I replaced the rear spoke rim with a slotted disc from a '96 Bad Boy Springer.
The stock rims are on the photo in my signature....
If you'd like, PM me and I'll send you some clearer photos
to check out.

Turned out pretty good, I think.

I've got Big Radius pipes on my WG, and I use about a 3/4" length of Allen on the dipstick, with, I think its a 1/4" open end wrench on it.
Works for me !

Screw the standard allen top dipstick. Get one of those twist off caps(remove by hand). Not only will it solve your problem, it's very convenient rather than whipping out the allen everytime you want to check

Totally agree here......shouldn't need a tool to remove a dipstick on anything. I've always thought that was pretty stupid. Same goes with primary fluid as well, shouldn't have to remove a cover just to add/check/replace fluid. I always like to make my bikes more user friendly and make maintenance much simpler.

After buying my bike, that was one of THE first things I bought, that twist off cap for the trans stick.
