I stopped in the local Goodwill the other day to find a cheap pair of cuff links for my 13 year old son (I know he is going to lose them). And as I patrolled the place I find a complete luggage set in with the backpacks. It is a Tourmaster set made to slip over the sissy bar pad, has a top roll, lot of pockets, all the zippers work and only has a little dust on it. Best of all.... $10. No kidding, $10.
That deal alone makes all the trips to the Goodwill worth it. Any one else ever find something good at the Goodwill?
And speaking of Goodwill, Merry Christmas fellow Evo owners!
When I was single I used to buy all my dishes there. When they were dirty I would just throw them out go back and buy more. You can buy a big stack of bowls there cheap. Silverware too. I hate doing dishes. I had a girl friend come over one day and she was doing my stack of dirty dishes, I told her what I did with them and she got mad at me. I told her if she wanted to do my dishes she was more then welcome.
not goodwill but st. vincent depaul. i found an old green bay packers players rain coat from the 1960's. i paid $2 for it. i went to an antique store specializing in packers stuff. the guy gave me $100 for it. another treasure was a 1/2" drive SK beam torque wrench, $8. lots of old aurora HO slot cars. some worth as much as $100.
I've shopped at those sort of places for many years now.....at least 20 years or more. I've found many bargains and has really helped in saving money in the longrun. We hardly ever buy new stuff.....
Two years ago, my wife bought an official leather Harley jacket at a Goodwill for $10. It was like brand new with no signs of wear. We've seen the same one at Harley shops approaching $400. I also bought a battery tender there back in the summer for $1. Looks rough, but does work just fine.
You never know what you might find. One day, you might find alot of stuff....next day, not anything I want. It is always however worth looking.
I try to stay out of the goodwill stores. I have browsed the online goodwill auction site from time to time and I bought a colonoscopy set.
When I was inbetween careers and selling excess stuff on ebay, I came across my old HO slot cars, circa 1970 or so. I put them up, $5 opening bid, even misspelled camaro. Had the box with it too. Some guy emailed me wanting to give me $300 for it if I took it off the auction. I said OK, as I would have been happy to get ten bucks for it. Little did I know there were two idiots out there bidding on these things and it would have gone for closer to five bills. Lesson: Never end the auction early.

Dr.... no offense but I don't think I would want anyone giving me a colonoscopy with a tool set they got from Goodwill!
I wish I still had all my old Hot Wheels cars and track from the 60s... I could buy a new Road Glide with those...
Well, I bought it to look into cylinders mostly, and to work on the Lotus, where you can't see anything any other way. I need to work on it a bit. There's a reason it was at goodwill.
Are old hotwheels worth anything? I might still have a box or two of those. May have to ebay them off.
the hot wheels with the red stripe tires are worth more.
my son and i were in a slot car racing club about 5 years ago. the hot set up now are "life like" slot cars. right out of the box, nothing is faster. the old t- jets with the skinny hard rubber tires are no match for the new life like cars.
