Allmost feels like spring.
I was at my local indy shop, where I had the bike towed, just yesterday discussing options. He had come out with his trailer and rescued me on the roadside back in November but then broke his shoulder shortly after so the bike has been in limbo until last week. Since the front cylinder/head need replacing, I think I'm going to do both front and rear so they will be matched. He has a slightly used set that were takeoffs from a hot rod motor he built for someone several years back, so I think I'm going to go with those. As long as I'm in this deep, I'm going to have the 'new' heads ported and milled (my old heads were milled .060), along with a valve job and new S&S springs.
On the bright side, he only has one other bike in the shop at the moment, so mine will get his full attention and hopefully will be turned around in a couple of weeks, depending on how busy the machine shop is. And my son recently moved back to CA, so he's no longer on my auto insurance. The money I'm saving there will finance this rebuild.
Sorry to say that it looks like I'll be bringing rain and snow with me when I arive Sunday night... So get some time in before hand if you can...
