If all else looks good, I wouldnt worry about a base gasket leak.. Maybe you can negotiate a little based on that.. If you're a do it yourself kinda guy, you can fix it over the weekend for cheap.. Or, just ride..... Some other guys have just added a sealer to the area to stop it until they get the chance to fix it....Sounds like a deal to me..

I have owned my 1990 FLHS from new and they all did it! Mine leaked from both base gaskets, but the replacements fixed it for good, so it is no big deal. As Greg suggests you can either live with it or fix it easily. With that mileage up any of the things that tended to go wrong with bikes from that era will have been fixed long ago.

The chrome badge you see on my saddlebag is an Arkansas Razorback!

I don't have a Razorback decale. I see hundreds of them every day, so I can do without. I live 10 minutes from the campus.

How'd a Razorback get in the UK, Graham?

Silly reason really. I joined HOG in its first year, but being an International member didn't get all the pins and patches. I discovered a couple of years ago that I could pick some of them up on ebay and searched regularly for 'hog'. One day an 'Arkansas Razorback Hog' emblem came up, which surprised me, never having heard of them before! Owning a tuned Harley I just liked the idea of an angry looking hog on the charge!

The emblem was being sold by a lady who I guess buys up out of date stuff for the college teams and she had a nice chrome metal stick-on razorback. It was too good to pass over, which you can just about see on my saddlebag. It was a novelty for her to sell abroad so I never did admit to her what I was going to do with it!

There is another Razorback's fan here, so I reckon we make up a team of three now!

OK, that's an interesting story. Those emblems are available at about any store here in town, including WalMart. I see the chrome stick-ons all the time.

I dunno if I'm a Razorback "fan." I'm an Aggie, actually. But we call the hogs at our English Car Club show, "Brits in the Ozarks."

Razorbacks are pretty rare over here!

I am an MG fan, on my third, although you never got MGFs or my current MG ZT260 in the US. That has a little Mustang sohc V8 in it, one of only around 800 built.

We've had some fairly rare ones at our show. There was one, an Austin something or other, driving over from Tulsa about 100 miles away, and the (PLASTIC!) U-Joint disintegrated about 30 miles out. He called up during the pre-show party and someone with a trailer went and brought him in the rest of the way. There were only like 3 of that car in the US. Another one was at the show and had a spare plastic U-joint for him. They put it on and he drove it home.

Never had an MG, but I've worked on a MGB that a friend owned. He said it cost him $1K every time he drove it.

These are my English cars:
