I like the EVO's as well.....I own nothing but EVO Harleys. They are simple and do a really good job. Good thing about EVO's.....lots of stuff can be upgraded like the newer ones. Wheels, swingarms, brakes....etc.

I had a Twin Cam.....will never go back to one.

GAFIREFIGHTER:
I figured you meant the look of the bike, I was just havin some fun...

I`ve been thinking about something different too, going up to a new TC with the fuel injection, anti lock, etc. And putting the old softail into a well earned semi-retirement...

Here in CT Evos are no longer common on the road. It seems as if almost everybody has a new Twinkie.

I still remember the days when the oldest bike in the bunch was the coolest - there were still knuckles, flatheads and pans on the road during the reign of the shovel. These days the oldest bike is just that - old. Oh well, so am I.

It is sure a good looking bike though.

I know, I was just trying to explain why I look at them the way I do. I realize the new bikes are awesome. I droll over them on almost a weekly basis. I would just rather have two for the price of one.

Don't get me wrong....I like the Twin Cam era bikes. Heck, I like Harley's in general. I like the power of the Twin Cam. However, for me riding a Harley....it isn't all about power or having the newest either.

When I ride in groups or there are alot of other Harley's there.....I tend to look at the older models more than anything else.

EVO's still rule!!!!!!!!

That is more how I feel. I would love to sink thousands of dollars into the motor on my 05, if I had it. I just will never use it. My wife and I love to cruise around with the wind in our face. Not so much into high HP numbers. Not that there is anything wrong with it. Because they sure can sound great.

Adam,

Like others have stated, there is a certain appeal to keeping and riding an Evo. There is a lot of pride that comes with not running out and getting the latest and greatest, rather, keeping your "old iron" running. I've had my current ride for 9 years and am completely happy with it. I converted the M&M EFI to carb last year. Many of my TC riding buddies ask when I'm gunna get one and I tell 'em, "Why? My bike is everything I've ever wanted."

The good news for you is that Evo prices are falling. In the dead of winter you can get an Evo bagger for "Shovelhead money"....decent condition for $6000 - $8000. The upper end of that scale would be a later model ('96-'98) with "reasonable" miles.

Personally, I'd stay away from an early EFI model ('95-'96) and try for a carbed bike.

Good luck!
