Default Looking for exhaust part.

Any of you loyal evo guys have a right rear exhaust pipe for an Electraglide laying around you might wanna get rid of? Its the one that comes directly off the rear cylinder with the "Y's" welded on. Part number is 65626-95. Mine cracked in 2 places and I took it to 4 weld shops and nobody wants to weld it. New ones cost 200 and up even on eBay. Let me know. Dealer says that it fits '95, '96 and '97 model years. Mine is a '96.

They are easy to weld, even with a torch but... the Y pipe for a 2006 back (maybe even newer too) will fit any of them except the pre-95 bikes if they still have the flare/v-clamp type muffler attachment. Those TC stock exhausts (which will work perfectly) go for cheap on ebay... lots of guys on here running late model Twin Cam exhausts on bikes as far back as '86. The heat shields tend to be a little different, but you can still pickup a whole set complete for under 150. or even less...

Now that I look again, the rear downpipe attaches differenty so you may have to use a whole set rather than try finding just the "Y" part. Be patient, that stuff comes and goes but here's a couple:

I welded mine up behind the dealer in Pierre. It was shattered. The cracks looked like a spider web. It was some seriously u-ga-lee welding, but that and the new valve guide got me home. This is the 07 twinky exhaust on my bike:

And depending on what year you're starting out with, a new crossover pipe may not fit by itself, but the whole exhaust system does.

And if'n ya want, I'll weld up what you have for $30 plus shipping, no warranty, no guarantee I don't ruin it, you takes your chances.

They should be able to run a bead on it at a muffler shop! I did mine with a 110 volt wire feed welder while it was on the bike! They crack because your engine moves but your right side pipe is mounted tight to the frame! If you re enforce the pipe with a good bead it will stay fixed!
Good luck.

Just a suggestion, but have you considered a set of "true dual" headers that eliminate the stock crossover? The V&H Dresser Duals made my bike run a lot better. You could probably pick up a used set on ebay or craigslist.

Thanks for the replys. Mine is being welded. I took it to 4 shops on saturday and nobody wanted to do it. I herd everything from its too thin to its stainless. The maintenance foreman where I work is doing it. I saw all those on eBay. Would like true duals but cash is tight right now if ya know what I mean. On the year fitment, I was going by what I was told by the dealer. And these guys are usally pretty good! But its a done deal. No more PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) as my better half says. I appreciate all your help.

They said it was too thin? wow, I think I could weld it with a MIG we have at work! They must not have a good welder, seems like it would be easy with stainless wire.

Default The evel one

First off you can't make a call on welding it without seeing it. Welding is a skilled trade and the boys down at the muffler shop...Well you know..It's good you now have someone taking care of it. Secondly during my roaming about I'm pretty sure I spotted one the other day in a chopper shop. I'll be back there in a day or so and will inquire about it and it's price. It's always been my experience that having a spare will insure the original parts longevity.

Ummm, I have pipes on my bike, I think I can make a call on that. I cut the crossover off my Sporty pipes and "patched" them very nicely. And Sportster pipes are thinner than the head pipes on my RK

It is not stainless. It is plain carbon steel, maybe with a tad of chrome or some other coating like that "aluminized" muffler stuff. A MIG will do a good job on it, even with flux core wire, which wouldn't really be MIG, but whatever. Stainless is easy to weld with a MIG, if you have the right wire and gas. I'm building a whole car out of stainless, so I'm quite familiar with it.

Anyway, glad you're getting it fixed. Pay attention to the area near where the nuts go up on the stud at the head. Make sure you have enough clearance there to get a socket on it if there's any weld around there.
