I had a tick that I couldn't find until I put new tires on and inspected the front wheel bearings. I thought the tick was coming from the front head. Noticed a slight burn on the wheel bearing race. Replaced the bearings, of course, and the tick disappeared.
I appreciate the idea.. It still ticks when I'm not moving though...
Nice pic's on the rods. Mine didnt get quite that bad. I cought it before the end came out.. Clearly cracked and ready to come apart.. I was really surprised to find the SE pushrods at Harley to be as cheap as they were. I think they were about $110 and chrome molly.
This is what You are waiting for with those RewTechs....Replace before they broke...
wow looks like it was a bit tight perhaps? what's all the damage on the bottom one from? almost looks like a vise grips was on it? Did you adjust them when the lifters were at their low point? did you let the lifters bleed down?

Yes,they were adjust correctly. The another rod is rear ext. and its way too thick. Now I have Bender Cycles CroMo rods and shortened tubes and did some grind inside tubes. No contact anymore.
Got it back together, made sure to tighten it and checked the others. Had a minor scare when I went to start it and it just spun before I realized that the plugs were still out! I gotta quit drinking the night before I work on the bike! While I waited for the lifter to bleed down, I went ahead and did the 3.00 true dual setup that t150vej mentioned in the exhaust part thread this week, only I used a piece of 1-1/2" conduit that was laying around the shop, so mine was free!
