1991 flhs
Just wondering if anybody out there that has a 1991 flhs? If so, do you have a hard time to find parts for it, like we do? Specifically looking for the piece that goes over the handle bars once you take the speedo and tac out to put it in the inner fairing. The speedo and tac is the one piece oval shape one. We have the inner fairing and the rest of the gauges that came with it when bought off ebay. Just trying to get all the pieces together for it to put in the bike and get an audio system as well.
The easiest install would be to get the frame mounted fairing as opposed to the batwing fairing. The TourGlides of that era had them and used the existing cluster without changing locations. I've never been behind a batwing style fairing, but there are others on here who have. They'll chime in.
The parts isssue is a MoCo thing, as they have discontinued/obsoleted a number of parts for the 'older' bikes. Fortunately, a number of parts are carried forward to the newer models, and can be found at dealerships. That is, if you are interested in OEM parts. Otherwise, there are a number of parts available from the aftermarket.

You have already had success with ebay, so keep one eye there. I live in the UK and find most of the things I want on US ebay! Another possibility is to place a advert in the wanted section here on HDF and look at the ads of stuff for sale.
I bought a batwing fairing many years ago and have to admit I gave up with modifying the wiring, so bought an earlier glass-fibre one, which you can see in my sig pic. So my instruments etc are all stock.

Your bike sounds nice! But the current Road King is not strictly comparable... it costs many thousands more, AND you have to look down at the gas tank to see your speed! What's up with that? No tach, either...
My Bertha is the very last year of the old FLHS "toaster dash" front end, which continued into 1994 and 1995 only on the Police bikes before it was retired forever and replaced by the Road King Police in 1996. I replaced her old, scratched-up stock Lexan windshield last year with a beautiful 2" over-wide Cee Bailey Lucite smoked windshield that I absolutely love. I can actually see in front of me now when riding into the sun!
I will have Bertha until the day I die. Hopefully we'll have a lot more miles together before that day though... and hopefully her ignition switch will be good for a long time, too!

Bertha is a beauty. Blue Belle told me she'd like to meet her some day.
If you still have the manuals and catalog I am interested and would like to have them. Please let me know and I would be glad to pay for shipping!
