Nice looking bike. Obliviously taken care of. it would have been hard for me to have walked away. Seen many bike sell for less then book on e-bay considering the economy. Probably a good deal anyway if you have priced a new one at the dealer.

All Evos 1992 and later left the factory with the INA inner cam bearing.

Thanks for the clarification, Dan. Hard to keep track of all this. It's amazing that Harley is still in business with all these goofs

I bought a 98 road king 4 or 5 years ago with 8k miles, it now and 17k miles and hasn't missed a beat. I did need to replace the rocker box gaskets from the old 2 piece to the newer 1 piece designs. It's not my only bike so I don't get to ride it as much as I would like but I just took it from TX to CA and it ran like a top.

I like the bike. But hesitant on price. He's asking $9500. I'm not good at bargaining. When I first talked to him over the phone, I asked if he was negotiable. He said 200-300 dollars. Being into muscle cars for years I understand the price is what someone is willing to pay. Bike pricing I don't know. I didn't talk price when I looked at it. I just said I'd let him know later in the week. The kelley blue book is at $8565. While nada is at $6880 with a disclaimer that mileage/condition could vary the price 10-30%. At 30 that puts it right at 9k.

I have found other Fatboys cheaper. But not this nice. One 2001 for $9500. I'm thinking $9000 is my ceiling. Sorry for rambling. But its got my wheels churning.

If you like the bike make an offer, worse thing is he says no.
Print out the KBB and NADA listing and offer $8600 and see what he does.

Just got an email from the guy with a 97 Fatboy that I talked to a week ago. He's needing to get rid of it quickly. It has only 21k miles, bags, windsield, hooker exhaust, Dynaflow carb kit(??), easy release clutch kit(??), synthetic fluids. A week ago he was at $8700. I haven't gone and seen this one firsthand yet. I will tommorrow.

Honestly, man...right now scooters are a dime a dozen. Are they all flawless? No. Is the fatboy a hard to find bike? No.

I've really never seen anyone ask let alone pay that much more than blue book.

At the same time, if you decide you absolutely have to have this particular bike, then the value is determined by what you are willing to pay to get it. Forget KBB and NADA. It's up to you what it's worth.

I can 100% guarantee you that if you don't buy this one you can find another one, possibly even more attractive but also possibly less attractive but priced to where you can buy it and spend a few bucks to make it perfect in your eyes.

To me that scoot is nothing special. Just a clean, well-maintained FB with bags and a few extras.

It basically comes down to what you're willing to spend. Nothing else really plays a role as long as you walk away satisfied.

The majority of Harleys roll on to high mileages without knowing these things can go wrong! It is just that some do and the owners make a lot of fuss here on the internet and the news goes around and around and gets repeated until it becomes a fact they ALL will go! Don't be bothered by it. I never changed the bearing on my 1990 Evo.
