The majority of Harleys roll on to high mileages without knowing these things can go wrong! It is just that some do and the owners make a lot of fuss here on the internet and the news goes around and around and gets repeated until it becomes a fact they ALL will go! Don't be bothered by it. I never changed the bearing on my 1990 Evo.
But then, your '90 came with the Torrington cam bearing from the factory, now didn't it? Fortunately, cam bearings are relatively easy to change. They must be, if I can do it.

True, but there are other things mentioned in this thread that should have gone wrong with it and haven't! The camchain tensioners on my TC88 haven't given any problems either. Neither bike has been perfect, but nor have they suffered all the things we read about.
the 97 looks good! is his asking price within reason?
Yes it does look good. Second owner. His first Harley. A meticulous personality on the owners part. You should see this guys house, yard and shop. He's owned the bike almost 3 years. Shortly after purchasing he took the bike apart down to the engine and frame just to see how it was put together. What didn't look new or operate like new he fixed or replaced. Clutch cable, switch buttons, repack bearings, brakes, etc. It has handgrip heaters that the wiring wasn't "hidden" so he routed it inside the handlebars. It will need a new rear tire soon. It needs nothing else to be ridden.
Price is within reason. Not a great deal. But far enough below retail book to be acceptable. I had hoped to liquidate part of the Camaro fleet before I bought a bike. But toys are not selling fast right now. I'll have to decide on whether or not to do government type budget financing(increase debt based on projected revenue).

Be careful - the government can get away with increasing debt by just printing more money and/or issuing treasury bonds. You probably can't do either one!
