Very common, only problem it will cause is an oil leak...they even make a gasket so you can grind that part off, and replace the o-ring with a gasket.

Check the "fitment" tab. It only goes to 1984. Whew, thought I blew $850 on primary belt drive for nothing ( '91 FLHS) .

Just the 430-900 fits the '84 model.

The 434-192 Fits 1985-2006 Big Twin engines $29.95.

I still like the new dry primary belt drive set up and no oil to leak or change now. The "dry" clutch with mesh derby cover is a little noisier with clutch disengaged but again; no messy oil or chain adjuster, compensating sprocket, etc. Jeez, wonder why my mechanic didn't know about this gasket change over fix? Maybe the gasket still leaks? I did have a 6" crack though the one on this thread looks real nasty too.

This might be the way to go for the short term. Thanks. I wonder if anyone on here has experience with this. I am still chasing down a leak in the rear of the primary that has eluded us for a year now. The only good thing about it is that this crack was found while looking for that leak, I wonder if anythig needs to be done to the crack after the lip is ground down.

I've heard alot of good things about a product called "JB Weld"; kind of a "cold" metal repair and it's supposed to be as strong as a regular weld. Just an idea.
