Default Brake Pads

What is the consensue on brake pads? I pulled my front wheel to do the bearings and put a new tire on. Its time for new front pads. I would like to upgrade from OE pads. It seems like people either hate or love Lyndalls. Reading on here some say they are bad in the rain. Also a lot of complaints of squealing. Most of the post that come up are from Touring etc. My brakes are stock, no floating rotors or dual piston calipers. Exept I have Screaming Eagle slotted rotors. I would like to get Evo riders opinions. Thanks.

I have Lyndall "Gold" on our '90 Ultra and they do squeal at times, but if you clean the piston it goes away, some times I just spray brake cleaner in at the piston rather than disassemble and clean it properly. I don't consider the squealing a big problem, yes it happens, but not all the time. I will buy Lyndall gold pads again. They may be a little cleaner than stock brake pads.

I ran Lyndal's on my last Dresser and thought they were pretty good. However, I just put a set of EBC HH sintered pads on my current dresser and they are OUTSTANDING. So I bought a set for my FXR and will be installing them this weekend. The sintered pads may be a little rougher on the rotors, but that's OK with me for the stopping power I get with them.

soft 02 I appreciate your help. The reason I asked for Evo riders is that alot of people that had problems had newer bikes. Brakes have advanced alot since 87. You answered a question I forgot to ask, mileage. Thank you. I think I will read up on the EBCs too. I am so confused lol. The stock pads worked well, but I can't stand the dust from factory back pads. I ride 2 up alot.

Yea I was in a pinch once and picked up some factory pads but after 2 weeks I threw them out because of the amount of dust.

I agree and soft 02 picked the right pad for his riding conditions. I'm running the Z+ pads as they are recommended for the conditions I ride in mostly dry. Been caught in the rain a few times like we all have, but I've had no problems and keep an extra set on the shelf for spares.

BTW, when I bought my stainless 5 shot rotors from Russell I called tech and asked what pad they recommeded. The answer was Lyndall.
