I'll replace the cable first and see what happens. Have the drive unit ordered too just in case. Will update with results.

Yeah you have to take the front wheel off. On mine its also the left side spacer. There is a little tab that fits into a slot in the rotor. Really you will just have to drop the wheel enough to get the drive in. Which still means pulling the axle. How long since the wheel bearings been re-packed? Since you will have it apart anyhow.

Just had it all apart to replace fork springs so assume my mechanic repacked the bearings. This will be another job for him as I'm just not set up to do it plus am aware of the close tolerances for bearing sideplay, etc. Thanks for replying, bro!!

Put a new speedo cable on last night from JP Cycles exact OEM match in length, threaded fittings, etc. and problem seems to be solved. Long ride tomorrow will tell.
