new to evo need some serious advice
I do dislike too much computer controlled stuff, I know it is better and I do not argue that point but to me it would be like having sex by sticking the erection through a hole in the wall, yeah, there may be something on the other side to get you off but it just can't give you the satisfaction of having your lover next to you where you can touch, caress and get things heated up the way you like it.
The newest Harleys are best made ever, but I don't want one, I like my 20 year old evo style Harley. Maybe some day I will change my mind, but I hope not because I enjoy this feeling I have now and hope I never end up thinking of it as just another motorcycle. I know guys that buy several bikes and never truly bond with any, they are always looking for something better, looking to find a feeling they can not find - I hope I never end up like that.

Jireh has about the best prices on aftermarket parts for your evo, Jireh is NOT a good place for accessories. They have engine parts printouts you can download:

They have one of the poorest setups for inventory as the people taking the orders are not linked to the warehouse for accurate inventory. But if you have the time to wait you can save money .

I like Zanotti best for OEM parts:

on edit: as you guessed we don't spend a lot of time at the local dealers, but I was at one today to pick up some "Evo" oil filters, don't let them sell you twin cam oil filters for your evo as they sometimes cause evos to push oil out the breather.

But good grief, Joe! I got all fired up just reading that post... erections and satisfaction and all!
You've obviously bonded with your bike as much as I've bonded with Bertha - with her simple CV carb, NO emissions crap, and her near total lack of electronics (except for all the stuff I've added, of course...)
The TC is not as simple to build as an EVO!!! There are more moving parts in a TC powerplant when compared to the EVO.
The success of the Evo is also what under-pinned the enormous industry out there now producing after-market engines and tuning kits, so Evos also provide an excellent basis for a serious performance machine. At their respective peaks, TCs were made at around seven times as many as Evos, so buy now while stocks last!
If it were all just about the EPA, we wouldn't have all of the huge 140+ HP aftermarket Evo-style engines out there, because the EPA wouldn't let them put those engines on the market, would they?

I bought my bike new. Dr.Linda's too, for that matter. They do everything we want of them. I have no need for a new one. While they're slightly more complicated than a Shovelhead (shudder), they are infinitely more reliable and the best bikes the MoCo ever made.
