Question Ignition Sensor Cover: removal tips needed

I'm swapping out my cam, lifter blocks, hydraulic tappets and pushrods with aftermarket stuff. Or at least I'd like to. First step, according the SM, is to remove the ignition sensor cover. I removed the two screws holding it in place, but it's not coming off. Apparently someone used a gasket sealant of some type because it's stuck on there good. Tried using an easy-out screw extractor to give more leverage to pry off the cover, but it's not budging, even after using a lot of force on it. Once again, stymied by a simple task. Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.

I would try a heat gun on it. Is it the outer cover? Mine still has the rivets.

Yes, it's the outer cover. Didn't have rivets, just two allen-head screws. Have to see if I can get a heat gun from Harbor Freight or Northern Tools....

A good hot hair dryer might do the job.

Is this on the 95 RK? If you don't mind replacing the cover, drill a hole in it so you can get a good screwdriver on it.

Greetings,
The brown potting compound from the sensor had melted on mine and was holding it on.
It was still tacky and took a while to get off - I ran the bike until it was hot, then it came off easier.
Hope that helps!

That's a great idea. I'll give it a shot.

Yes, the '95 RK. Was hoping to avoid drilling it out, but it's an option.
