Default Bracket on frame?? What's it for?

Thake a look and please tell me if the square shaped bracket with the square hole in it attached to the lower rail of the frame is needed for something OR can I cut it off? I've had the bike since 04 and have always wondered why it is there. Thanks

I think it is the mounting for the stock master cylinder, I put forwards on mine and I have the same thing. Cut it off, but you won't be able to put stock controls back on. JMHO, YMMV, etc.

Since I like to be different, I'll say 'gremlin bell mount' but master cylinder is a lot more correct.

I guess that makes sense, other than my bike has had floorboards from the factory. Maybe ALL softail frames were built with the bracket?

They look like the fragments of sidecar mounts for me.
