Default breather tube

i have a new-to-me 89 FLHTC, bone stock other than exhaust. it has the lil breather tube attached to the air cleaner, and ive seen others that have disconnected that line. if i were to do that to clean things up, should it be left open, or have a filter put on it? upright, or down? whats the best thing to do for my motor?

thanks

Put a breather on it, you can also run a hose up under the seat and put the breather up there too.

Just run some 5/16th" fuel line down to a breather w/bracket. Look at my bike, 9" below the air cleaner's 7 o'clock postion is a round chrome breather attached to the tranny bolt. I came off both heads to a T fitting and then ran down to a breather from J&P.

You could go down into the exhaust with a draft-tube for some HP.
Really helps my race cars. Vacuum seals the motor (rings) and less pressure for HP.....

I put the hose down to the chrome breather, it works well but does drip once in a while. You can see it below the pipe and in front of the rear foot board.
