I've never had a HD tour pak and was wondering if I got one, can the big hi-passenger padding be deleted and just leave my sissy bar/pad without too much problem with my current seat and no rack?
I know I would need a rack for mounting system, but will it mount without the stock seat. My seat is low profile RK type, very comfortable and leather.
Just wondering!

I think it should fit. Don`t know RK seat, but I just got Mustang seat for FLH`s and it fits with the tour pack on the bike. In My tour pack there are two sets of mounting holes. I can mount it closer to the front or move it back 1 1/2 backwards by using the other set of holes. I`ve seen some pics of EG with tourpak and RK-style Sissy bar, but without this padded backrest on the `pack.

The big backrest can be removed, but will leave a few mounting holes, although they can be filled with blanking plugs. I suspect you will find your sissy bar will get in the way. Depending on the mounting rack you use the tourpak could be moved backwards to create room for it, but it may not look as neat as if you went with the 'normal' set-up.
It won't fit, the Tour Pak and back rest use some of the same mounting positions. What you can do though is put a smaller back rest on the Tour Pak. Some of the CVO models use them so they are in the accessory catalog.
They are different docking mounts, I have a slightly larger Shovelhead tourpack mounted on a Harley detachable tour pack docking system, I can use both the tourpack and backrest at the same time, the backrest is also on a HD detachable mounting system. I lean the backrest forward and install the tourpack and then snap the backrest into it's mount.
I mounted the tourback to fit around the backrest (1/4" clearance) and the newer tourpacks have relocating systems with the HD factory mounting system so moving them back is common, is the backrest area the same on the Shovel compared to modern tourpacks, I can't answer that but I only paid $50 for the Shovel pack and the new style are bend you over price range even used.
