nope, ride the bike till it uses oil or smokes. chad.
I did almost the same thing, at 39k bought a '96 springer, took out the stock cam and installed an ev-23 kit with adjustables etc. the only problem seemed to come around 48k when it started drinking oil at a rate of 1qt to 500 miles.... torn valve guide seals, I solved that this winter with a top end rebuild, 90 bucks a hole for cylinders, 175 for kb pistons, rings etc. and when I fired her up she started, and I am in the proccess of breaking her in. So with my labor, a borrowed ring compressor, and 300 bucks I have a fresh top end, only time will tell if its right or not?
MO, you've got your answer, plus a backup if you need it from Havoc! Another happy EV27 user here, until the lust for more took hold. You'll find that cam is probably the most talked about and widely used in this Evo forum, so you are following a well trodden path!
For the good advice its as I have come to expect here at hdforums I think I will just do the cam at this time and see what happens as that seems to be the common census. If something happens I'll do the top end with the ported heads maybe I'll have a little more change in my pocket by then too.So Thanks to all.I dont ride much really as I dont have alot of spare time ,I pastor a church here as well as raising foxtrotters,a large greenhouse ,tilapa tanks, garden ,milk cows you get the idea .So the Right advice is very important to me .Thanks again
