Default Blew up my 96

Lost the bottom end on my FLHTCU coming home from vacation this week.
68000 miles on her. It is the weirdest thing I've seen. The crankpin is very heavily damaged but only for about 60 degrees of the surface. The rest is undamaged. The big ends are a bit out of round and will need to be repaired. There was scoring of the cylinders and I'll be reboring them and new pistons will be installed. Freshen up ANYTHING that needs attention and should be back on the road in a week or so. (If I can get all the parts in a timely manor.)
So much fun!

Crankpins will wear rapidly where ever they wear thru the case hardening sometimes leaving the rest OK. I had that happen on an old 84 Iron Head Sportster.

I lost a crankpin 20,000 miles ago, makes a bad mess with metal contamination. Great time for that S&S 4 5/8 rotating assembly since the cases are split, I only wish I did the 96" kit when I look back but the 89" gets the job done in a big bike. Hope all goes well with your build.

This was the culprit. All back together now and ready to put back in the frame. Should be riding mid week.

make sure you clean out the oil pan and lines really good or you might be back in there sooner than you want to.
