Default Temptation dilemma

I told a good friend I flirted with some new Harleys last month.
He said he would buy my bike for 10K....(very serious), that has been bugging me for a month! He knows how nice it is and how good it runs, etc. I confirmed the offer tonight!
I haven't bought a new Harley in yrs, since the Evo era. However, this offer and my race car selling makes it very tempting to pay cash.
I love my bike and Evos, guess I have to endure these temptations. I'm 68 and a last new one is very tempting, however all those guys selling twin cams for evos really helps me decide. On the other side, dealers are really dealing right now. One was a new loaded flhtc otd for $22k and $600 of store credit for the tour pak. I don't want a trunk!
dilemma....dilemma..not really...people in Japan have a dilemma!
well anyway, my little dilemma sure makes a guy think...hopefully just think!

I sometimes think I might want a "newer" bike. That is, until I hit my start button and hear that sweet sweet sound. lol

I know what you mean on the temptation. I did that very thing a few years ago. But I just sold my 06 for this 97. Right from the start and even with the signs of age and an oil leak I need to fix this bike brought a bigger smile to my face.

I had newer, had an 06 Twinkie softail, was nice but just didnt stir the soul as older stuff does IMO. Sometimes i think i should quit throwing cash at an old bike and just buy newer i may even do so one day but not at the moment.

why sell it if its running nice and no problems, keep and enjoy and spend the extra cash on another EVO, nice little fxr for short trips!

My old lady is 21 this year. There is no greater thrill, when far from home, than when she fires up and runs ready for the next adventure. New bike owners don't get that - or the anxiety....

I said it before, Showroom Floor Voodoo and just like a new girlfriend, exciting to ride at first but will she be special when the newness wears off (or her first period).

Good luck on your decison and the Evo section will support it but we won't respond anymore if the incorrect choice is made but seriously follow your instincts and look at who your are and filter others telling you who your are.

Just rode a 2011 103" Street Glide that I was installing a TTS Mastertune on and a very nice bike but didn't have anything special that the ole RK couldn't offer besides the shiney new penny look but support the owner because it made him glow while he was around it.

A bike with a 120R sounds like it could be fun....

I, as a newer year model owner ('10), have a little to add to what you all have said. What about the idea of knowing if something does go wrong with your new "Twinkie"...you don't have to worry about shelling out loads of cash to be moving again? Warranties are nice, and I'm guessing by the time mine runs out, or by the time I actually start worrying about a major breakdown, my newer "no old school heart to it" Twin Cam, will start to give me those types of feelings which you all are describing.

Depends where you are! My wife and I are heading for Slovenia from our home in the UK in a few weeks. Won't matter what brand or how old a bike is, we will be up the creek without a paddle if we have problems out there! No Harley dealers in the whole country. Your twinkie will be no better off than our old evo! To boldly go....
