Good for you. I was just blasted by a few guys this morning who all ride twin cams or newer sporties about getting an older bike. I just smiled as I looked around and saw how their bikes are all the same and look like cookie cutter bikes.

every time i ride my evo (1990) it just gets better. Its in the shop right now getting a top end job. started pucking oil from the gaskets. but even with that. I picked it up for $4000 on craigslist. and now putting probably 800 bucks in a top end job. still worth it compared to a 11,000 + bike or even a 4 year loan.

what did it for me was when i took it to the stealership a while back and parked it. when i came out there were some guys parked next to me with there new bikes. I just got on my bike and started it up. It made the guy next to me looking at his bike jump. he turned and sayid it scared the **** out of him. what do i got done to that thing. Told him nothin. s&s carb, straight pipes and a evo. lol made me feel good

Hi Everyone,

I havent posted in quite some time but I have stopped by the forums on occasion. I have a 1987 FXRS and I absolutely love it. I look at the newer bike and have to agree with what was said earlier, they look like cookie cutter bikes, they dont seem to have any individuality to them. I have never seen another bike that looks exactly like mine. I bought it in the spring of 2000 and have never looked for a newer bike. I would like to build a bike one of these days but my FXR isnt going anywhere.

Glad to hear you're sticking with that great looking bike you have . I find the new bikes don't have the look , the sound or the soul of the old bikes . And it always makes me laugh when people with new bikes talk about the warranty as if thats going to save them money . For the most part they have paid about $15'000 more for theirm bike than we did . What could possible go wrong with an older that would cost that much ? I'd keep and ride my 95 even if I hit the lottery . It stands out more than any new bike in the parking lot every time I stop somewhere .

I haven't bought a new Harley in yrs, since the Evo era. However, this offer and my race car selling makes it very tempting to pay cash.
I love my bike and Evos, guess I have to endure these temptations. I'm 68 and a last new one is very tempting, however all those guys selling twin cams for evos really helps me decide. On the other side, dealers are really dealing right now. One was a new loaded flhtc otd for $22k and $600 of store credit for the tour pak. I don't want a trunk!
dilemma....dilemma..not really...people in Japan have a dilemma!
well anyway, my little dilemma sure makes a guy think...hopefully just think!
Take some of that money from the sale of your race car and splurge on some upgrades for your Evo. You'll miss that Evo if you sell it. Plus you'll come out ahead money wise...

Thanks bike r mike. Nice looking bike you have too!....this is scary..we look alike, both mikes and older evos.

plow64, I was thinking the same thing...I don't want anymore motor, so I was thinking 6 spd, but really don't need that either, but it would be cool!
Also, thanks to all that posted while making this decision, it helped..believe me!
