Decel pop appears to be either eliminated or at the very least, attenuated. Hesitation on accel also appears diminished but really rough at the start of the throttle turn. Should have better weather tomorrow so I will road test then. NH, give me your thoughts on how a smaller pilot jet would eliminate the pops. I would truly like to know the physics behind it if able.

I'm not sure which pilot jet you're running now? The pilot controls throttle from 0 to 1/4 throttle. If you're running rough on the bottom of the throttle setting, the pilot is probably not right. Does it feel like it's running fat (blubbering) or lean (hesitating)?

Since it controls throttle from 0 to 1/4 it's probably responsible for decel popping also. Usually stage 1 bikes run 45-46 pilot... only occasionally a 48. You make the fine adjustment with the adjustment screw.

The 46 pilot is not a stock HD part, but it's available from the aftermarket.

If it pops on decel the pilot (or adjustment) is probably on the lean side.
Backfiring is usually rich.

Needle controls throttle from 1/4 to 3/4. HD N65C needle is a good one to use P/N 27094-88. Not sure if it's still available (88 XL part).

Main Jet works from 3/4 to full throttle.
If at full throttle the engine runs ‘heavily’ the main jet is too large. If at full throttle, by slightly closing the throttle or air valve the engine seems to have better power, the main jet is too small.

I don't like the Dynojet kits. they run rich and economy usually suffers.
Keep in mind that the DJ jet calibrations are not the same as HD (Kehin). A DJ 190 main is not the same as a HD 190... they are different sizes.

By the way...I'm assuming you're talking about a TC88 as your header indicates a 2003 Wide Glide. This is an EVO forum, so I don't want to confuse anyone.

Feels like a glut, so I intend on returning the Pilot to the original 46.

It was what was on the bike when I got it, but I do not know if the original owner did any mods.

Yes, sir. 88. Since the physics and mechanics of carburetors are constant, I searched for threads that spoke to the theory as well as the practical. I greatly appreciate all of the input I have received. Lots to learn.
