Hi all. Just wanted to say hi and say I've learned alot reading through the evo posts here. I just picked up my first harley. I have ridden crotch rockets until the back said no more, now I'm crusin. Just picked up a 87 fxst. I paid $5k (included leather saddle bags and a brand new leather jacket) for the bike and its ready to ride. Eventually I will add my own touches. The first will probably be some turn signals and fix the paint around the gas caps. Let me know what you think.
Congrats on your new ride. I like the looks of it. $5K is a good buy if she runs good. How many miles on her? Looks like in good shape and clean from the pics. I like that front end and the bigger tire. That'll feel more stable than those 21" tires IMO.
Thanks, she runs great. Mileage reads 16,500. As you can see my daughters smile and considering she can already reach the forward controls I doubt it will be long before shes asking to borrow it. PO got it from his stepfather who bought in in germany when he was in the service and brought it back with him. Has alot of jaybrake parts on her. I dragged my uncle that builds bikes along with me when I bought it to give it a once over and he couldn't belive what I got it for. Now I'm just waiting for the rain to stop (weather here has sucked since I picked it up). Sure I will have alot of questions as I make mods.
Well happy to report that I've put a little over 1000 miles on her and shes running great. I took off the luggage rack and sissy bar (although I have to put it on when the ol wants to ride), also pushed the bars more forward but might grab some taller ones so they will be shoulder height (I'm 6'2). I broke down once and had to push her 2.5 miles to home but had it back on the road the next day. After testing it ended up being the coil so not to bad. Also made a new friend that tried to help out while I was on the side of the road.
