Default carb help

Ok, need a little guidance, I have a 10.5 to 1 eighty inch, and I always like using cv carbs, but this one is doing something I can't figure out, in high gear, the bike is just flat, between 55 and 70, the bike is a turd, after 70, its a missle, so with that being said, should I change the needle and main, just the needle ? Lean it out or fatten it up ? What's your thoughts, its currently netted at 50 pilot, 195 main, and a bob woods kt1 needle ....

would the pilot effect a/f around 2500-2800? I know the needle would, I guess I'm gonna try one of those sportsmen needles since they're adjustable

with stock spring and slide an 80" will transition around 2500. Remember even above that the pilot jet is supplying about 10% of the total fuel used. If you have a lighter spring/slide or have the slide drilled, it can be opening too fast and this will cause a "flat spot" until the engine gets farther up the RPM scale. Too much cam or timing off could also be the problem. Oh make sure the carb is squeaky clean, if a transition slot or air bleed is obstructed you will have a problem like the one you mentioned. Hope this helps.

IMHO....your jets are fine, start out on your mix screw 1/8 t @ a time, if no help raise your needle one notch (move cir-clip down), if you have adj needle.
If that doesn't do it, go to 52 mid jet, you are lean!
Remember a little LEAN will Kill hp, ..a little rich does nothing but burn more gas....to a point a course!

I have everything totally adjustable on my "Killer Perf Carb" and you can fine turn the cv carb like you can't believe.

my 2 cents from past experiences
