Default Baker 6OD Installation

Came across a good deal on a Baker 6 speed gear set and will be sliding it in shortly, had an output shaft inner seal leaking and now was the time. Transmisssion case is bare and make a note if you want to attempt this yourself, buy the main bearing remover tool and a big pair of snap ring pliers you will appreciate it! If you read special tools are not needed for disassembly, throw the bull$hit card.

Pics of assembly will follow in this installation process

Fantastic...keep us posted. I know you mentioned it before when I was thinking of it. I'm still very interested in the 6 spd.
Man this is exciting, can't wait for your first road trip report.
good luck.

If the tranny is a close ratio you may want to consider putting a one tooth smaller pulley on the tranny. We do this on most of the heavier bikes that we install OD six speeds in, especially if you ride two-up. his will give you a little more launch and have very little effect on the top end. Hope this helps.

Make a bearing press, easy to do. Only had to buy threaded stock from home depot as I already have the steel. Drilled 2 holes and used a sheer to make a "round" shape to fit. I am sure it only cost less than $2.00.

Mia, have taken everything into consideration, big bike, 6'3" donut eating rider and ride some 2 up. Baker is a 3.24 first gear, already have 30 tooth and primary is the 3.37 so I am low with the 6th to motor down the road and still in the power range.

Easy to put the main bearing back together but removing it is a task, I made a tool to remove it but cost me 4 hours of time and a struggle, the correct tool would take less than 10 minutes. I had access to the correct tool but was currently broke and didn't know when the new parts would arrive.

When it gets time i wanna put a six speed OD gearset in my bike but it seems baker does not make one for my application, all I have found is the revtech 6spd OD. cant wait to hear your ride report. Thanks.

Started the picture process, this case didn't need any clearancing per Baker guidelines in the instructions. Waiting for a countershaft bearing to continue. Baker is on the right with the Redline Shockproof clinging to it.

Amazing how they squeeze all those gears in there....looks like a fairly straight forward install....
