Default Leaking Cam Seal

Okay I put a new cam in and now weeks later I see that my camshaft seal is leaking up behind my pickup for the ignition. My question is how hard are these to press out of the cam cover itself? And should I go ahead and replace the cam bushing?

The easiest way is to remove the nosecone and tap the seal out from behind. That being said if you carefully take two small screws and screw them carefully into the metal part of the seal. The slowly work from side to side you can work the seal out. Then all you need is a piece of tubing to tap the new seal in, be sure to put some grease on the rubber part of the seal before you put it back in.
The bushing should be good if it didn't leak before the cam change. Hope this helps.

New cam needs a new seal. Even if You would not change the cam it might leak once the cover was off the engine.

Seals and o-rings should be replaced every time You take some parts off the engine. No matter if the seal is good, just replace it. Important rule while working on bikes.

Check the bushing before removing the nose cone by gently putting pressure on the ign rotor.....I had a Sporty that had 50 thou play there once......needed a bush ;-)
