Default 80" longevity?

Ok I have a 93 softail, had for a very long time. Runs like the dickens! a few mods over the years. milled heads .065" beefier Screaming Eagle springs. Dyna single fire ignition, Mikuni HSR 42 carb, and EV27 camshaft. OK the odometer just turned 66000 miles. I run Amsoil , or Mobil 1 20W50 oil, changed regularly. I really dont "hot rod" per say, but I dont like being the one every one has to wait on to catch up. Its a strong running old bike! My question is, how many miles can I expect to go before having lower end work done? Thanks

Forever. Based on your riding style, and attention to maintenance, you'll move on to another bike, or retire out of the sport, before your 80" will need lower end repair.

Regular oil changes and no hot rodding on a regular basis, you'll get many more long miles out of it.

There is no easy answer to that question. A very long time! They have been known to go round the clock, in other words 100k+ miles and you are a large part of the way there. Your bike will give you early warning that the bottom end is wearing out long before it suffers any serious harm, so just ride on!

I asked my Indy the same question when I bought my '96. His response was the bottom end should last 3 or 4 top end rebuilds, as long as your persistent on maintenance and oil changes...... and don't beat the **** out of it.

I had to have mine done at 85,000 miles due to consequential damage to the pinion shaft and bearing from a failed lifter. I have 76,000 miles on the factory rebuilt motor, and it runs like a champ. Still have good compression and minimal oil consumption. I'm expecting a lot more miles.

It`s not a japanese bike, You shouldn`t even think about rebuild at 66k miles.

Im thinking my 80" EVO will outlive me. Im in the same general milage area you are + or - a few with no mods and still runs like a timex watch. Regular maintenance is the key to "anything" with an engine in or on it.

My son has a 94 fxstc and it had over 100k miles when we rebuilt it. He's really good about maintenance but rides it like he stole it. You'll be good for a long while.
