in stopping. Between the wrong fluid and a caliper piston cocking off applying the rear brake it just didn't slow down or stop the bike right. Got it back together this morning hopped on for test ride. Ahh Now this is right. Came back to house the Mrs. was up wondering what I was doing. Told her get dressed and we will go get some break fest. BAG Made about a 40mi loop had breakfast at good place. Headed for the house to get ready for church. Thank Y`all for the help. WP

Cool. With this era bike, (Evo), pretty much all the bad stuff from shovelhead (shudder) days was fixed. Now, 25 years later, it is really just a matter of putting it back to the way it came from some DPO's f'up. As I bought my bikes new, there's no DPO, so I just try to keep them maintained and they do well.

Here's a shovelhead brake problem: The caliper bushings wear out in like <5K miles, causing the caliper to ride on top of the disk, which cuts the pins holding the caliper together in half, resulting in an "oh shiite" moment as the caliper splits in half when you try to brake.

I love working on these old bikes. It's relaxing. Nothing super complicated about them if you just take your time and think things through.

Thing about that , gets to that point it's on the owner for not taking care of it . Those things rattle like a Jamaican Steel drum band for a long time before they get anywhere near that bad .
