Gosh, isn't our 'Search' frustrating? I am sure we have covered this query before, but I cannot find the answer, so here goes. There will be a related question soon!
Compared with later touring models, my 1990 FLHS has a pretty narrow rear fender, which my current 150/80 rear tyre is a very snug fit inside. If I want to go to an even wider tyre (ignoring other problems I might meet!) which later years of fender can I fit, which are wider? I suspect mid to late 90s, but would appreciate solid confirmation.
Thanks Neil. I vaguely recall reading of someone retrofitting one to an early Evo, but can't find the thread so far. I can at least check my bike over and see if I can find room for one. I am contemplating fitting a 4.5" x 17" rear wheel, for which I need more width than my current mudguard. An Avon 160/70R17 Storm tyre is said to be 166mm wide. My current 150/80 Venom is actually 153mm wide - and half an inch is 12.5mm. Mmmmmmmm, snug!

Reason: Link added.
I've come across an '08 fender, complete with lights, that looks good. I still cannot find an older thread about retro-fitting these things, so a 'bump' to see if anyone passing by can add to our knowledge.
Well I've taken the plunge. Just bought a 2008 FL rear fender assembly, complete with all lights and harness off US Ebay. harley_fat_boy_55 has three more, including a touching shade of purple, if anyone is interested! I have also bought a Deuce rear wheel, 4.5" x 17", with a view to doing a rear-end revamp.
