I got all excited when I found an early Deuce wheel on Ebay, with 3/4" bearings, but it seems it would need some machining to take a 1" bearing conversion, so am going to hold fire and keep my eyes open. Anyone know when Deuces went to 1" axles? That is not the sort of info many sellers include in their details.
That wheel fell through, but I soon found another, as well as an 08 fender, both of which have arrived. Just a matter of starting.....
Graham - you are certainly a front runner for this year's Glutton for Punishment award! Currently you are tied with MountainKowboy's Wrench-Fest 2011 !
JUST CURIOUS... What COLOR is that new rear fender? And what's the total color count now? By my reckoning it's Hi-Fi Blue front fender, bags, and side covers, Birch White fairing and Tour Pak, black tank, and now ???
Hi Ken, the new fender is described as 'charcoal gray', a sort of blue/grey to my eye. It isn't on the bike yet, but will be a part of my winter project. The wheel looks about right on hub width, but until I can remove the current wheel and compare them it is not easy to confirm if it is likely to fit!
So first step will be to verify if the wheel fits the swingarm, and the brake and pulley are in the right places, then see what clearance issues I may have. I've never disturbed that end of the bike before, so it will be a voyage of discovery!
The new wheel is a rather fine plain aluminium and I propose leaving it like that for the time being, just to add to the colour palette!

Graham - you is ONE CRAZY BOY! Good luck, and keep us posted. I assume you managed to get that 6-gallon tank fitted successfully?

Not quite to my liking yet, Ken which is why you haven't heard anything lately. I'll have a go at getting it just right over the winter, along with the other things.
