On a shovel yes , evo no oils through the pushrods and on shovel you just spin the lifters 180 in the block so the oiling port doesn't line up anymore save a lot stupid fubar by less skilled owners . Can't say if they block it or not never put solids in an evo before , short of a drag bike no reason to .

Ok, I was thinking Ironheads there and the only Shovels I ever worked on had solid lifters but I still wouldn't put solids in an Evo...we live and we learn, that's what this forum is for but can someone explain exactly why one would put solids in an Evo?

And as for Shovels outrunning Evos.....in your dreams mate ;-) ;-)

I was referring to shovels, hadn't thought about spinning lifters. I always drilled, tapped, and plugged passages as per instructions of well known builder. But I have watched your post enough to know you are knowlegable about Shovels and respect your views.

Before converting any lifters to solids, I would suggest contacting the cam manufacturer. Back in the day the cam sheets would tell you which cams they reccomended using either solids or hydraulics with. Today they assume you will be using hydraulics with the EVO engine unless otherwise specified. There are still cams made for solid lifters in an EVO, but they are mostly for a maximum output engines (drag race, etc) and are custom ground. Many are for the four cam EVO engines.

I've done the drill & tap gig also so I hear you , had to fix a couple attempts by other guys who broke the taps or got the holes too big . Unless your doing a max output motor the spin trick is **** .

I just bite the bullet and go Jims lifters in my personal shovels been loving life ever since , I've run up to a .600 lift cam with them no issue before but they are getting $$$$$$$

Weve converted a few shoveels to the complete EVO setup, cam and lifters. This gives us a lot more cam choices. A 10.5-1 shovel really likes the Woods 6 series cams!!!

Used a few of those in BIG motors with impressive results I think Zippers in MD use a lot of Leinweber specs for their cams with a tweak here and there .

For shovels with decent hydraulic lifters I like Vthunder cams had great luck with them and a sweet power band .

Run the Woods W6H in my Evo, needs detail to adjustment and will expose a weak lifter quickly, wide squared off lobes but always a trade off for performance.

Who can explain Jim's hydrosolid design, I understand that it is more like a solid lifter at high rpm's and not a spacer design. A couple of Shovel riders use them and say they are worth selling a lung for but still feel they are overpriced.
