Two questions, how did you know that they replaced the cases and did they stamp your new engine case with your original serial number?

I tried to get this info out of the PO, but he didn't ask any questions when the work was done and the dealer merged with another and they are still talking about possibly migrating the computer database from the old dealer to the new. Until that's done, I cannot get any information out of them.

I'd be interested if they stamped the original number on the case as my bike is practically one owner - My father ordered it from the factory in late 92, I took it over in 2000. Only 68010 as of today.

With the carb set up right, and a good set of pipes, a stock EVO has plenty of power, and is super reliable. I have 32,000 miles on mine, and it feels like it is just getting broken in. No leaks anywhere. I did change out the cam brg. at 27,000 just for peace of mind. Only took me a day, and I am slow.
i saw that on ebay the other day. $3395 for a new crate engine. the only one they sell though is a softail setup. the only difference i think is that the oil filter is on the front of the engine. my 89 FLHTCU has it behind the tranny. i think these engines were all the same were they not. other than that, my primary, tranny everything should just bolt up? any thoughts? it would be worth the $600 more to buy the crate over the reman because then i am one step closer to building that low rigid bike i want
