I was also told I might be able to use cones inside the headers. As far as the torque, can I retard the ignition slightly to help this out. Not sure if the "HP Plus" will fit into my "mufflers". With the stock true duals do ya think their is enough scavenge. I have always loved the sound of an open exhaust potato, potato, potato, and worked rock shows for 10yrs so hearing 100% is not an option.
Cheers
Ign settings won't help the torque, its a harmonics issue but power cones or the lollipop baffles help a lot.
I have an EG with Rinehart Tru Duals on it and added Big City Thunder baffles...sounds great! Back pressure plus sound...they are worth the money IMHO.
I can cones before and they were okay. Also you can try the washer trick as well as a cheapo but loud baffle alternative. They worked great on my previous bike and got rid of the horrible de-acceleration noise. If you don't know what the washer trick is let me know and I will find the link.
I had forgotten all about the washer trick until you mentioned it. I was just looking up bct baffles and just couldn't justify the price. I never liked the decel hushing noise my v&h pipes had with the stock baffle. I tried cutting them down and welded them back together great sound but still had the hushing noise. So needless to say I've been without baffles for a while until now. Looked around the garage found the stuff to make the lollipop baffles.
All I can say is wow. Wish I would've done this years ago. Sounds amazing. With no decel pop. Finally I have the sound I wanted all along.
I love my unbaffled duals on my old, out of date, carbureted, unbalanced, vibrating EVO!!!
How does your bike run without baffles? I tried the same setup you have without baffles and I lost so much power is was pathetic. I had to put some baffles in to get her to run right. I would love to get rid of the baffles but I can't figure out how to get rid of them and keep the power.
The only way that open pipes can hurt your valves is if you are running super shortys in a cold climate. Cold air can get into the pipes and cool the exhaust valve unevenly, that is why the Funny cars and Dragsters cover their pipes right away at the top end of the strip. However most Harley pipes run uphill so it would be more difficult for the air to infiltrate. Hope this helps.
I like a beefier than stock sound, but cannot tolerate that raspy, hi-end noise from lack of baffles. A good system will mute those harsh overtones, but give plenty of low end muscle sound.

I don't know if it is because it still has has the crossover pipe and is not true duals, but the power is fine. It may have lost a little right off idle, but it is definitely stronger on the upper end. I have a K&N filter and Crane HI-4 single-fire electronic ignition. Everybody I ride with has TC bikes, and even in the mountains, my old EVO runs with them fine.
