Low, Low, mileage issues?
Do they charge another friendly f'n fee for that piece of paper?
I'd rather ride "near" the ROT and buy you a cold beer for a buck and quarter.
The error affidavit would be used in the event the owner, the one on the title, actually filled out the information on who he was selling it to: the guy who has the bike. In that case it needs to be corrected to make the transaction go directly from the titled owner to you. Here's a link to a statement of fact (error affidavit) on the Travis County site.

Doing it this way will get the title in your name by cutting the "title jumper" out of the paper trail. There are risks. When you tell the seller what you need signed by the titled owner, he will probably forge the signatures. Lots of bad stuff can happen...... usually doesn't, but can. Titled owner could be a pissed off ex or any number of things. And a bill of sale from a guy that isn't on the papers isn't worth a thing. That's why I avoid these situations and tell title jumpers to call me when they get the thing in their name.
I only saw pictures of it on the auction and had to put down a deposit on it before I picked it up. When I did pick it up it was everything the seller had described. The only problem I had with it was the rocker box gaskets had to be replaced.
That was in 2008. As of this morning I've got a little over 40,000 on it and the only other repair has been a bad temperature sensor.
If there is road tax owing it doesn't pass on to the new owner and doesn't need to be paid before bike can be regoed to new owner....they chase the previous owner for the fees.
But if rego lapses for more than 12 months the vehicle will need to be recomplied but you can put rego "on hold" indefinitely for $7.20....damn I love NZ!!!
