Evo's
Hey guys newb Aussie to this club, but not to Evo's.
When the Evo's came out you could sorta tell they were going to be a good thing.
They just run hard,ya know, keeping up with them on the Shovels got a bit harder.
Well you could set a good shovel up to run hard but they'd then get hot.On the Evo's you just backed back down coasting back to whatever speed you wanted to sit on and the motor cooled down by the time you got there. But the old Shovel would still be hot so passing cars or traffic lights or whatever the old shovel would get hot and next hard run start to ping ,so coast to a stop and back some ignition out ,then the Evo's would just roll on and clear out.
Anyway that's my ideas about that.
So yea I like this part of the forum.
Cheers.

Yeah, I am a newb newb... I was a Yamaha rider for years... great bikes... but they are not Harleys... I will say the Road Star is a bada$$ bike. But I just got myself a Hrley and love the EVO and the sound. It is an older oner, and I did pay attention to your post of going with straight 50wt oil, but like someone said, you are in hotter overall weather than I am, I believe, and everyone but you has said 20W-50. Being that YOU are no stranger to EVOs I may have a question later that I may need help on, but I have to look through the forums before I make a dork out of myself by asking aquestion that was covered a million times in other posts... I just did not see it HERE in EVO Classics, hahaha!

I came from the pan and shovel world into EVO's too and am loving every minute of it. I like the simplicity compared to TC 88s and the fact I don't need a damn degree in electrical engineering to work on my EVO !! Looking for a '98 now: between a 98 and my current 97, I figure I'll be in the ground before I ever need another bike !!
Ya I know what you meant ,I was just yanking your chain.

Just remember that these days theres only good oils, oils are top shelf now be it Penzoil or Royal purple.
I only use dino to bed an engine in and yea i run 'em in hard, first oil change I go to a good synthetic.
Mate warm up is the most important part of engine discipline, get it good and warm then go and not b4.
