Default checking oil

this has been a problem for a long time. if i check my oil after my bike has been sitting for a couple days or a week it will always show low, not empty but a little low. if i top if off i always end up with a oil leak from my sprocket shaft seal, i have a bdl open belt drive. not to much of a leak, just a drop or two. now if i go for a 20 or 30 mile ride and then check my oil it will show full. what ive started doing is if my oil is down 1/3 of a quart i just go ahead and then it shows full. now doing it this way i dont end up with any leaks. i can do this after my bikes sits for a week or two and i get the same results, no leaks and the oil will show full. its not dumping out the sump tube. i figure some how the oil is getting back in the engine, oil pump check ball, then when riding it gets pumped back out. guess as long as i dont get any oil pumping out ill just call it good. it is nice not to have any leaks.

Oil level should ALWAYS be checked at operating temp, that is the only true oil level.
