Default Compensator Washer or Spacer?

Getting ready to install my inner primary and was looking at the compensator vs. the pic in my manual and it shows a compensator spacer. Mine had no such spacer but it did have a washer (see pics). Is this the spacer but the PO put it on the wrong side? The drawing does not list a washer nor does any parts sites.

I'd say the washer is your spacer just reverse engineer the way it came off.
Somewhere the manual will list the size of the spacer and you can reference that.
What bike and year?.

K for my Softy the spacer outside the rotor is 2.81 inches OD and quite thick the spacer inside the rotor is 1.75 inches od and faily thin, the next spacer that sits on the bigger spacer is for trueing the chain Measure with it all together the chain to the outer of the inner primary front sprocket and rear clutch and that spacer will be the difference man.
I know what to do but not how to tell it.
HTH cheers.

My book shows 1 spacer between the compensator and the stator shield. Also shows how to measure it. Had a bad clutch problem that I worked on for about 6 months. I pulled everything and tried a newer (86) inner primary and clutch but it didn't fit. I would adjust the clutch and have a good adjustment until I started the bike and then no clutch at all. Plus the starter clutch would not fully engage the ring gear. This spacer may have been binding this up since it was being used as a washer. It also had the wrong pushrod installed. I painted my primary yesterday and will install it tomorrow.

Going through everything. Everything in the tranny and primary I bought for an E84 so it is all the same. Frankenstein used less mismatched parts than the PO. LOL I'm getting there. Been on it for a year and 2 months. Hope to ride it soon.

dont know if you're talking about the spacer (shim) that goes on the rotor first before you install the front sprocket shaft. it's a very thin washer that aligns your chain with your front sprocket and clutch basket.that alignment must be within .030". I have a 99 twin cam, and it was within .030 without that shim. every bike is different.

It is the spacer. Just mounted the inner primary and checked the two sprockets and the compensator was way too far inboard. PO obviously was too cheap to buy a Clymer manual. (Mine was free online)
