Default Shifter Arm Stripped

The splines in my heel/toe shifter arm on the FXRP threw in the towel yesterday. Anyone have a magic fix or one laying around for a decent price? It looks like they are out of production, and the aftermarket solutions are toe only. Elvis has some, but he wants 250 with good splines and 170 for one as bad as mine. Seems a bit spendy.

Your's is the 1 piece lever right? You can get one thru V-Twin for under $100, part 21-0326 or OEM #33756-01. Your local HD shop or Indy should be able to order one for you from V-Twin.

That's an FL or FXD shifter. The heel part won't clear the derby on mine. My shifter shaft comes through the primary.

Drill and put a pin in.

Try wrapping it with thin brass and tapping the shifter back on.
I changed mine out this winter and I'm sure I seen one for the single spline shaft. Check Jireh.

That is one rare part. You can try searching "motorcycle salvage yards" in hopes that someone will have one. There have been a couple of good suggestions here. I would try wrapping it in brass, and as a last resort drill & pin it.

And, I am sure that someone is sitting there with one on a shelf thinking that it would never sell on eBay.

I thought of the brass....... actually was thinking aluminum foil, but brass would be better. Drill and pin would be iffy. Wouldn't it weaken the shaft a bunch?

For now I have the heel shifter from the FL mounted and it works. A bit awkward, but I can ride at least. I'll go by Bud's on Tuesday and see if he has one. One of the guys that works there rides an FXRP, so at least they'll no what it is.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Put your shifter in a vise. With the split at the splines facing up, slowly slice the opening split larger with a hack saw. This will allow the spline area to clamp tighter to the shaft. Wrap the shaft with brass & take your time sliding the heel/toe back on. You can spread it slightly to give you some room. Once in place, add lock tight to the shifter bolt & clamp it on.
Now you can take your time & look for a replacement!

Thanks Hatch, but the split doesn't go all the way through. It extends about halfway up the toe shift and stops. The lever is aluminum, so there isn't much flex, and the split at the shaft end is nowhere close to closed when the bolt is torqued. Fun times.

At least with my FL heel shift mounted as toe on the FXR I can take some time to shop.
