Friends considering trade
A friend of mine has a 2006 Sportster 1200, 8,100 miles. Another friend has a 2000 FXR Evo, 6,800 miles. It's yellow and I think it's some type of limited edition. The guy with the FXR is 70 years old and wants something a little lighter to ride. The other guy would like a bigger bike. I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of an even trade would be fair. What do you guys think??
Or a lot of cash. A yellow 2000 FXR is an FXR4. About 1200 yellows and 300 or so Tangerines made, and the last of the FXRs and EVOs. Very collectible.
Yes, it is an FXR4, yellow Evo. These guys are friends so they'll have to work it out. Niether one spends much time on the computer, so I told them I'd ask you guys opinions.

OMG, that yellow FXR is not only a collectors piece, its a truly fantastic motorcycle. Please, don't miss out on the chance to own an amazing motorcycle for a run of the mill Sporty, just because its newer. Grab that FXR4!!!
I agree with Glider Rider. The Sporty should be worth between 5-6000$ and the FXR4 between 8-10,000$
More to the point, I don't think trading for the Sportster is going to make him happy at all. The Sportster should weigh in around 560 lbs, dry, the FXR4 at around 600 lbs dry. Not a huge difference. I can tell you from person experience since I have a 2004 Sportster 1200 and a 1999 FXR2 in my garage that the FXR is MUCH easier and more more pleasant to ride. Even though it is lighter, the Sportster carries it's weight differently and feels like more of a handful. On the Sportster you sit "on" the bike. On the FXR, you sit "in" the bike, if that makes any sense.
I've had that Sportster for 3 years and haven't been able to warm up to it. I'm selling it this season. I've had the FXR for 4 years and will never sell that bike.
Advise your friend to enjoy what he has or switch to a mid weight import like a V-Star. The Sportster isn't gonna cut it for him.
