Default E85, anyone?

So has anyone made a switch? I'm curious what you did with timing and jetting and what kinda temp drop you got from it.

Are you talking "flex fuel" or strictly E85? I think you'd need an ecm and efi among other things. But E85 only....................

I've built several holley style carbs to accept e85, and what an amazing idea and perfect fuel for harleys, With that said, the major hang up to using a stock carbon is the internal fuel and air circuits aren't big enough to support the additional fuel/air its gonna need. So you really need someone to build a e85 specific carb,

It's not terribly abbrasive, but the needle in the carb would have to be nylon for sure lol

Gxsr.. You said a stock carb, what if to compensate you upped the carb to something that should be too big?

Running e85 is kind of a wash if your looking to save money. While cheaper than regular gas, its btu is less per gal (as i understand it, but Im no chemical engineer) so while the fill-up is cheaper, you burn more than an equiv gal of regular. E85 is a boondoggle foisted upon the taxpayer's by big ag, to sell more corn products and push up the price of same, while collecting subsidies from the fed. Eliminate farm subsidies and e85 will dissappear. Its also an energy and water hog to refine, vs reg petrol.

The only way you could save by running it is buying by the drum rather than at the pump where stations are gouging the price.

I'm looking at the benefits, added power, no carbon buildup in the chambers, cooler running engine, etc

I think the benefits possible would outweigh the added $2-$3 cost per fill up

I shouldn't say cost per fill up, but cost per same distance traveled by running gasoline
