94 Softail, stock 41 mm shock. Last year rebuilt them with new seals and bushings. Kept the same springs. Stock Harley seals. Have dust covers on them. Leaking again.
Ok... going to tear them apart this Spring. Does anyone have experience with a better aftermarket seal, AND, I want to upgrade the whole front shock to the best ride I can get. Not concerned about cost, but if I have to do this again, I want out to last long long time. Have fun and spend my money.
My bike has just had new Progressive springs and a fork seal rebuild with Factory seals. With only 500 miles on the bike since I won't be much help in judging longevity.
However I will remind you that in light of the rapid replacement failure to look over the seal action area on your fork tubes very carefully, looking for Gouges/burrs/scratches/oxidation/staining/rough spots. Any of these will quickly eat up a new seal. Smooth, cleaned and polished is what you want.
You may have done so but a second look is warranted due to the failure.
