When I was looking to by my bike my wise old neighbor told me the EVO's were one of the best motorcycle engines ever made. He said they ran strong, and when something did go wrong they were easy to work on. I think the exact words he used were, "infinitely rebuildable". This is a life long Honda guy who used to be a motorcycle cop. He knew I wanted to be able to get my hands dirty and said it was a wise choice.

I've had a 99 FXSTC and I'm on a 94 now, both were/are real good.

You need to give us some details, asking price, condiition, extras, enginework, PICTURES, etc...we want to live vicariously through your wallet....LOL

When I bought mine 3 years ago, it had 17,000 on it. It now has 34,000 trouble free miles on it, and it is the most fun to ride bike I have ever been on. Easy to work on in case that ever comes up. I did replace the INA cam brg. in mine with a Torrington just because it is a weak spot that can give trouble. It was fairly cheap to do and I did it myself. That is about the only thing I know of that can cause trouble in an EVO. Maybe it is just me, but I think the 84 to 99 Softails are way better looking than the later ones.

I have almost 40k on my 97 fatboy. I personally love carbed evo's, nothin beats the sound and feel with the reliability. I've owned a shovel and a few iron heads, love those old motors, got sick of chasing leaks and charging system problems. I've rode twin cams, just doesn't feel the same, and fi is nice, but they just don't sound the same.
