I had some machine work done on my heads and cylinders .The guy at the machine shop asked what pistons I wanted to use cause the cylinders needed to be bored .005 over.I told him cast cause I'm just freshening the motor up and running it stock.I picked the parts up and noticed he fitted drag specialties pistons to the cylinders with hastings rings. Then later when I got home I noticed the pistons were made in taiwan and there is no way taiwan pistons are going in my american motor. Now the question is can I get a set of keith black or wiseco pistons .005 oversize and use the already fitted hastings rings in my cylinders or will the cylinders need to be recut to fit the different pistons ?
The sidewalk clearance is usually built in the piston, so just order a set of wisecos, stay away from Keith blacks, and check your ring gap and you'll be ready, and most rings are ready to rock and roll from the factory,

Unfortunately, this is absolutely true. Next time you are in the harley store, just look at the source of almost all the parts out there, not to mention the source of the actual parts you are riding on when taking out a new bike off the floor.
I have used drag specialties with good luck, though like you I try to buy only products made in three usa. And, I can not say enough about the quality of a recent set of pistons I got from wiseck.
Look at Ultima's Mahle pistons, great pistons and if you look on the side of most of the NASCAR cup cars you will see their decal. So they can't be too bad, as these guys can buy any piston they want!!!
