Default Drivers backrest Mount

I have a 97 EG that I have gotten a drivers backrest. Bought it off the forum. While it has instructions I still have a question. The bike has 2 holes in the fender for the mount. This backrest came with a metal strap and 2 studs in the strap. Its clear this is for the mounting but maybe a bit of a hassle getting up under the fender. The 2 holes in fender have seat mounting nuts already in there. (threaded piece with a tab to keep it from turning and a plastic clip ou keep the treadsed part from falling out). Would these seat mounting nuts be acceptable to mount the drivers backrest to ? I don't see any witness marks on the fender to think it had a mount there before? Thanks for your time WP

If I'm not mistaken, what you're wanting to do is fine. Here is a PDF for that mount. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J04734.pdf
Oh and here's a thread that maybe will help some. I'm sure this guy mounted his the same way. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-backrest.html
