Default lost in the wires

my bike had an issue, i fixed the issue. the stator had gone bad and i replaced the whole electrical system. now she is getting the right volts and amperage when running and the everything is great..................except now when i am running along and i hit above 70 for any length of time she spits sputters and dies. found a few connectors that i could fix, checked the fuses, and the one relay i could find, and fixed a faulty connection on the ground side. still does it. any of yall got a clue on where to start next?

Are you sure it's an electrical problem. This kind of thing has come up several times in the past year and it usually is a fuel problem. Either a faulty vent in the gas cap causing a vacuum to build up in the tank, clogged fuel filter or fuel line, or a problem with the float level. Have you ruled those items out?

Well, one very simple test is to take it out and run it until she shows the stumble, then immediately unscrew the gas cap a few turns. If she picks back up, you have a bad filler cap. $15 fix. I'm not familiar with the fuel tank on a Dyna to know if there are any vent lines you may have left plugged after the paint. You could also disconnect the fuel line from the carb and open the petcock to see what kind of flow you are getting. You may have picked up some muck on your feul screen after the paint work was finished.

its a pretty simple set up, two caps, left is reversed thread, there is a line that goes under the back bone to connect the top of the tanks, about half way back the tank is completely open, the top center is closed for where a gauge cluster used to be, the pet **** is on the left side about three quarters of the way forward on the tank.

i just messed with the gas cap, the vent seems to be opened and able to cause the suction or what not, buddy said maybe not enough though. and everything went back exactly as it was before i disassembeled for paint.
