Think i might have opened a hornets nest here .??? Anyway ...
Im used to big Wings that go forever but went to Harley because " i always wanted one ! " etc. Seems to me that the ole air cooled thumper has " issues " like my ole body has the same .? It could crap out tommorow or go for another few years with no prob.? Will keep an eye/ear on it and deal accordingly.
Been so damned hot here lately i cant get my *** into biking at all ! Just to spent after sweating it out day after day .?!

As I said, everyone has a different tollarance for it.. Bottom line, in my opinion, I'd replace the lifters if it is a new(to you) bike, primarily because you really do not know the history well enough to know if its a problem or not.... Then ride the wheels off it.. Its an Evo, it will last, design flaws and all, they arent as problematic as it may sound..
I expect to spend some time keeping my bike running the way I want IT to ride... Its An old machine, and old machines need to get their bolts turned now and then just so they know you care..
