OK, so it didnt work out as intended, thought I should add an update.. The biggest issue whith the wheels, is that the rotor is completely different. Rather than a small (roughly 2") center circle mounting flange. The dresser rotor has a larger star shapped mounting flange area as well as being .020" thicker.. I did find an addapter that appeared would work. But, the wheel would not accept it due to the addapter offset.. Long story short, if you arent comfortable and competent at fabrication, I'd pass.. I may give it another shot at some point, but needed to get the bike back on the road with the new tire, just ran out of time..
For the record, later spec sealed ball race softail wheels seem to be a straight swap for the same era touring wheels, although of course they are post-Evo. The funky touring rotor got dropped and all bikes seem now to use the same style.

Ah.... Guess that answers my question.. Good to know!!
Anything is do-able, but this one isnt a bolt in.... Funny that that addapter is made for it, but didnt work.. Its flange is designed for a steel wheel flange rather than aluminum. It's the orientation of the bolt holes to the edge of the flange that gives the biggest problem.. Hard to describe w/o a pic..
